About this Event
Time does not move the same way for everyone ⏳
1975 meant different things, depending on where you were. In the Netherlands, Suriname became independent and whole communities moved. In Romania, Ceaușescu tightened control over daily life. In Canada, multicultural policy reshaped national identity while Indigenous activists pushed back. In Cambodia, the Khmer Rouge took power and declared Year Zero.
Same year, yet different freedoms, dangers, and futures. History can change in a moment.
This evening centers on that idea. We carry different timelines.
We’ll write haikus (short, three-line poems) using a shared set of words. Political, emotional, historical, messy🗂️ You pick what sticks and shape it into something about your own time.
Read it out loud or keep it folded in your pocket 🧥
