Class for adults. A special topic of this session will be developing the idea of storytelling with images. We will concentrate on developing/creating a sequence of pictures that will tell a story of your choosing. We will do this by identifying and using various kinds of images that can help a reader “read” your story quickly with their own eyes. You will be asked to make pictures outside of our meetings to practice this idea. The instructor will share some techniques in creating interesting and aesthetically pleasing compositions, some technical references to camera control and lighting will also be part of each session.
Most sessions we will practice shooting on the street or a specific location using existing light while trying to remain a “fly on the wall”.
We will practice the art of being unobtrusive to the environments that we will find ourselves in.
This class will also have other non-shooting assignments like talking about what inspires you to the medium along with some outside research. This will help us learn more about influential photographers that thrive on the streets of the world, in the present and the past.
We will end the class with a shared printed portfolio and a gallery showing at Cache Arts.
