Founded in 1840 as a non-denominational resting place and London’s foremost burial ground for Dissenters (those practicing their religion outside of the church) Abney Park Cemetery maintains an air of rebellion even now, with tiny winding routes leading to dead ends, haphazardly-placed monuments, and graves so weathered that the names are illegible.
We will meet outside Abney Park Cemetery Trust, Stoke Newington, N16. The closest station is Stoke Newington. This is still an active burial ground, so please be as respectful as possible.
The walk will last for around an hour.
