About this Event
Philadelphia Chapter of the Links, Incorporated - STEM Fair 2026
Join us as we take the Philadelphia LINKS, "It's All About STEM & Me" up a notch with our partnership with University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering on Penn's campus. We aim to inspire and strip the magic off STEM and make the pathway to owning the future real.Explore the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in a fun and educational environment. Don't miss out on this opportunity to ignite your curiosity and passion for STEM!
You saw the launch! But what did it take to send humans into space, and keep them alive? Come find out!
To leave Earth, astronauts must:
- accelerate to ~25,000 mph
- endure the weight of ~4 people (g-force) pressed on their bodies
- be okay being in a vehicle generating temperatures near 5,000°F, with enough concentrated force to devastate anything miles of it.
And that’s just the beginning.
In space, the human body faces conditions it was never designed for:
- Pressure and fluid shifts impact vision and brain
- Bone density loss of 1–2% per month
- Muscle atrophy
- Radiation exposure without Earth’s protective atmosphere
STEM leaders must engineer solutions for every system (oxygen, pressure, temperature, waste, movement) for survival and optimal performance.
This is what STEM makes possible.
During our Links STEM Day, students will explore how STEM knowledge used for astronauts can be used to improve our lives.
We’re expecting over 100 bright and curious students.
Whether you're passionate about tech or simply eager to uplift youth — your support makes all the difference.
