About this Event
The University Graduate School supports postgraduates at the University of Birmingham. We offer a variety of academic, social and wellbeing activities throughout the year. Look out for our other events open to doctoral researchers in our PGR Collection!

What happens at the Poster Workshop?

Join Dr. Georgina Hardy, Postgraduate Development Officer in the Research Skills Team, and Dr. Elizabeth O'Connor, Postgraduate Community Engagement Manager at the University Graduate School, for this RPC Poster Workshop.

RPC asks postgraduate researchers (PGRs) to prepare an A1 poster about their doctoral research for a non-specialist audience. Posters are then judged in-person and online at the PG Research Festival, 18-19 June 2024, by academics, UoB staff, external organisations and members of the public. RPC is open to campus-based and distance learners alike.

Elizabeth will also be around to answer any questions you have about the Research Poster Competition, what the judges are looking for, and uploading to our poster platform on Learning Toolbox.

What is the Research Poster Competition?

The annual Research Poster Competition is the largest postgraduate researcher event at the University, and part of the Postgraduate Research Festival. The PGR Research Poster Competition gives researchers the opportunity to produce a research poster for a general audience, promote their research and meet other researchers. We give members of the public, postgraduate researchers and members of staff from across the University the opportunity to find out about the wealth of research that happens in Birmingham, and offer prizes and recognition to PGRs who take part.

If you are a current doctoral researcher interested in developing your presentation and research communication skills, raising the profile of your research and having the chance to win a cash prize, we encourage you to read more on our Research Poster Competition webpage and then register your interest in taking part.

This event, and the Research Poster Competition, is open only to University of Birmingham postgraduate researchers (PGR).

PGR programmes include: MPhil, MMus, MRes, MA by Research, MSc by Research, MLitt, PhD, PhD with integrated study, EngD, DDS, MD, Higher doctorates and Professional doctorates.

Registration will close 15 mins before the event start time or when tickets are sold out. We have limited capacity so please cancel your ticket if you can no longer attend.
