About this Event
Join Tatreez Collective on this workshop to Personalise Your Own Pouch with Palestinian Embroidery
This workshop builds on the technique by teaching participants how to embroider directly onto a functional item.
Participants will:
- Learn how to use waste canvas to embroider on fabric surfaces
- Stitch a motif of their choice onto a fabric pouch to take home and use
- Explore how traditional designs can be adapted to contemporary everyday items
Includes: Fabric pouch, waste canvas, threads, needles, pattern guides, and teaching facilitation.
The Tatreez Collective is a cultural and social enterprise dedicated to preserving, sharing, and reimagining the art of Palestinian embroidery (tatreez). Through workshops, collaborative artworks, and exhibitions, the Collective creates spaces for learning, making, and cultural exchange rooted in community.
Alongside its educational work, The Tatreez Collective works directly with women artisans in Palestine, creating fair and sustainable employment through hand-embroidered garments, home pieces, and bespoke commissions. By connecting traditional knowledge with contemporary practice, the Collective ensures that tatreez remains a living, evolving craft.
Every stitch carries memory, identity, and resilience. The Tatreez Collective’s work bridges heritage and social impact—celebrating Palestinian culture while supporting the women who continue to stitch its stories.
