About this Event
Persian Community Hate Crime Prevention Workshop
Please join us on Tuesday the 12th May at 11:00 - 16:00 in the St-Mary-at-Finchley Church Blue Beetle Room.
This community workshop, delivered by the Persian Advice Bureau (PAB) in partnership with local police and supported by the London Community Emergencies Partnership (LCEP), is designed to build confidence, awareness, and resilience in responding to hate crime.
Overview:
- The session will begin with a briefing from local police officers, providing an overview of what hate crime is, how it differs from non-crime hate incidents, and the different ways individuals can report incidents and access support.
- Then we will break for lunch (refreshments provided by PAB).
- Participants will then take part in a scenario-based tabletop activity. These scenarios are designed to reflect realistic, everyday situations where hate crime or hostility may occur. Working in small groups, participants will discuss how they might respond, what actions they could take, and how they would access support or report an incident. It will be a relaxed and informal setting.
This pilot session will be for Farsi speaking individuals, particularily from the asylum-seeking and refugee community. PAB will provide translators.
If you have childcare duties, please feel free to leave a little early as needed.
