DETAILS:

Fairytales Playscheme - August 30th - 2nd September.

This summer Round The Twist is at The Monastery in Gorton and will deliver inspiring, engaging and high quality interactive arts workshops which allow children to engage with pioneering artists in the North West.

Across our four day week playscheme for ages 7 - 12 years old we will explore: storytelling, drama, circus skills, movement, music, puppetry and art…

All children must attend all four days at a total of £140 from Monday – Thursday. This works out at just £35 per day from 9.30am – 3.30pm. Your child will also have the opportunity to be awarded an Arts Award Discover certificate at the end of this programme!

We aim to bring you peace of mind whilst your child is engaged in high quality activities throughout the day, refining not only their artistic skillset, but they are also guaranteed to leave feeling encouraged, empowered, and elated.

If you book an extra sibling then you will receive a 20% off discount. Please use the code DISCOUNTOFFER to activate this.

We can’t wait for your children to get creating with us, develop confidence in our empowering programme of carefully selected activities and perform a showcase on the final Thursday for you!

There will be a showcase at 2.30pm on Thursday the 2nd whereby the parents, guardians and friends may attend, dependant on Covid restrictions at the time. If necessary temperature checks and Track and Trace will be done at the entrance of the Monastery for anyone attending the showcase on Thursdays and clear 2m spacing will be arranged in the audience area for the number of bubbles confirmed to attend that day.

Video footage will be taken and sent across electronically for those that are unable to attend.

Please contact [email protected] for a special request of three day attendance, these places may be considered dependant on the circumstance and if there is still room on the playscheme to accommodate your child. At The Monastery, we try to accommodate everyone’s needs as and where we can.

ESSENTIALS TO BRING:

Healthy pack lunch / snacks / water bottle / sun cream / sun hat / coat (dependant on the weather).

STAFFING:

We are proud to have some of the North-West’s top practitioners within our organisation and also have connections to a wide range of pioneering arts-based activities from shadow puppetry to creative writing. We use a person-centred, unique approach whereby children have the opportunity to build self-esteem and confidence whilst solidifying and extending their topic knowledge. Our practitioners believe learning through play is an empowering, fun and memorable learning process that is greatly needed in this current climate. Round The Twist delivers sessions in an explorative, focused and passionate way children can relate, connect and trust one of our experienced team.

We ensure that all our practitioners have up-to-date safeguarding training and DBS clearance.

CREATIVE DIRECTOR'S NOTE:

When I was a little person, people used to call me Zebedee (from The Magic Roundabout). This is because I am super energetic, often smiling and sport lots of springs in my step. I believe that we are all born creative in some way, and any involvement in discovering, surfacing and nurturing this with any child, or any human being I work with gives me great reward and warmth. We all need as many smiles as possible, especially after this pandemic!

I have over ten years experience in facilitating lots of adventurous and creative programmes in primary schools, forest schools, playschemes, adventure playgrounds and theatres with the objective of children gaining educational, social, emotional and physical benefit through modes of creative expression. I believe passionately that children are our future and our memories made in our childhood are vital to our development, directly influencing our behaviour transitioning into teenage-hood. We all have unique memories of teachers that were kind and compassionate to us, or remember an imaginative game that submerged us into a dramatic world. In my favourite world, I was playing mischievous witches and often playing out the characters from Roald Dahl books. This summer playscheme at The Monastery offers opportunities for children to learn through play and the arts, to build a safe space for these memories to flourish and for connectivity to become stronger within the creative community we have in Manchester.
