Acclaimed author, poet and critic Patricia Lockwood visits Beeton Hall to discuss her fearless new novel with writer Michael LaPointe.
About this Event

Join Patricia Lockwood, one of today's most daring and inventive literary artists, as she discusses her beguiling new novel with writer Michael LaPointe.

Will There Ever Be Another You picks up where Lockwood's Booker Prize-nominated debut novel No One Is Talking About This left off. In the midst of a global pandemic, and stunned by the loss of her sister's infant child, the protagonist develops a debilitating illness and descends into a bewildering sensorium in which characters and events from Lockwood's previous works commingle. A haunting work of uninhibited honesty, Will There Ever Be Another You explores how we survive, and even reinvent ourselves, in times of profound upheaval.

In conversation with author and critic Michael LaPointe (The Creep), Lockwood will explore the relationship of life and art, and the intersections of technology and identity. This intimate event is Lockwood's only solo Canadian date.

Patricia Lockwood is the bestselling author of No One Is Talking About This, a novel which was a finalist for the Booker Prize, and which The Atlantic called one of the Great American Novels of the past 100 years; and a memoir, Priestdaddy, which won the Thurber Prize -- America's top honour for humour writing -- and was named one of the 10 Best Books of 2017 by The New York Times Book Review. She is a contributing editor at the London Review of Books, and her essays and reviews appear regularly in The New Yorker and The New York Times.

Michael LaPointe is the author of The Creep (Random House Canada). He has written for The New Yorker and The Atlantic, and was a columnist with The Paris Review.
