About this Event
Pasadena Right Here Right Now: A Rock Opera
Russell Mark of The Nextdoors received an individual grant from City of Pasadena Arts and Culture Commission to create a rock opera about this city in the here and now.
Over the course of 6 months he has met with the public and spoken to them about their lives, challenges, dreams, and ties to the city everywhere from gala events, to dive bars, food banks, neighborhood meet-ups, and beyond.
It will be composed for rock band and string quartet, and will feauture the cello playing of Russell's wife and Nextdoors bandmate Mika Larson, along with violins and viola from Altadenan Vijay Gupta, the founder and artistic director of legendary non-profit orchestral group Street Symphony - whose mission is to build communities through music by working in spaces of reentry, rehabilitation, and recovery, where people create, listen, and belong together in ways that restore trust and recognize the full humanity of everyone involved.
Admission is FREE but you must RSVP here on Eventbrite as seating is limited. If you'd like to contribute to the costs of staging this project you can purchase Contributor front row tables - first reserve your free tickets here, then please reach out to Russell at [email protected] or text 323-823-1805 to inquire about pricing and availability.
