We are excited to present our next duo of studio workshops and lunch in the Parallel Play series on Sunday June 14th! Workshops are for grown-ups either with or without their little ones. Fresh Nepalese vegetarian lunch is prepared by Ritu.

Both workshops are perfect for absolute beginners, adults and children.
What to expect:
Join us for a fun morning exploring natural dyeing with Chloe @makingmums in our sunny garden. In this relaxed workshop, we will first explore folding techniques to create tie-dye patterns, before dropping your fabrics in dye baths made with avocado, onion skins and black beans. Whilst the fabric soaks up the natural colour, we will have a go at flower smashing to print colour directly from the plant. You’ll leave with two small pieces of naturally dyed fabric, with the option to turn one into a flag.
By the end of the workshop you will have gained an insight into natural dyeing, feel empowered to have a go at home and have had a lovely relaxing morning with or without your little one.
Pausing for a healthy and delicious lunch with Ritu, we return in the afternoon and learn how to create repeating pattern artworks by hand with @gemmie_jam.
In this 1.5hr workshop we will playfully explore the theme of nature, whether that be bugs, fruit & veg, flowers or clouds; and learn how to easily create a pattern by hand.
We’ll get creative and make our artworks using a selection of mixed media including coloured pencils, pens, oil pastels, stamps and collage. Gemmie will be on hand to guide you through the steps to make the artwork into a repeating format and answer any questions you may have.
At the end of the workshop you will have your repeating artwork and the option to have your artwork tile scanned and emailed to you as a high quality digital print-ready file, which you can then have digitally or traditionally printed onto fabric, wallpaper, gift wrap, homewares, etc. - the possibilities are endless!
A note for parents:
All Parallel Play workshops are for children and grown-ups. Parents are responsible for their children for the duration of the workshops and lunch. Activities are varied but children of all ages are always welcome and can play with the toys in our playroom and garden throughout.
Although parents are responsible for their children, all sessions are assisted by facilitators and a supportive community to co-create a playful and relaxing experience together.
We will be using hot/warm dye baths.
