Painting with Alcohol Inks & Markers

IN-PERSON WORKSHOP:

Explore the amazing possibilities of painting with alcohol based inks and markers on Yupo paper! During this in-person workshop, Brett will give us an introduction to the technique and share visual examples of how alcohol inks and markers can be used to create vibrant, expressive paintings. We will then begin practicing with the materials on a test sheet of Yupo paper. Experimenting in this way will help us become more familiar with the behavioral properties of the inks and markers as they interact with the alcohol. Brett will proceed to guide us through the process of compositional layout based on a provided still life. Lastly, we will fill in areas with colored inks, and explore our own color interpretations for a truly unique result!

ABOUT BRETT:

Brett Douglas Davis is a practicing artist specializing in painting with oils and inks. He holds a Master’s degree in Studio Arts from UC Davis. He has exhibited globally, has attended numerous artist residencies internationally, has taught studio art courses at university level, and has been featured in New American Paintings. Currently, he divides his time between Philadelphia and Figtree, Australia painting both in studio setting and plein air.
