About this Event

Paint Your Own Pet (Acrylic Portrait Workshop)

This is the class for people who say: “I can’t draw… but I REALLY want to paint my pet.”

You bring a pet photo, we’ll print it, help you trace it using carbon paper, and then we’ll paint your pet step-by-step in acrylic. Beginner-friendly, structured, and surprisingly relaxing.

What to bring (important)

Bring 1 clear photo of your pet (phone is fine). Best photos:

  • Good lighting, face clearly visible
  • Eyes sharp (not blurry)
  • Simple background (or we can simplify it)

If you can, bring 2–3 options—we’ll pick the best one together.

Part 1 — Setup + Tracing (no drawing stress)

You’ll learn:

  • How we prep and print your photo
  • How to trace cleanly using carbon paper
  • How to simplify shapes so the painting stays fun (not painful)

Part 2 — Painting Your Pet (step-by-step acrylic)

We’ll guide you through:

  • Blocking in big shapes (fur, face, background)
  • Mixing your pet’s colors (warm/cool browns, blacks, whites, grays, etc.)
  • Building fur texture with simple brush moves
  • Bringing the eyes to life (the “magic” moment)
  • Finishing touches and highlights

You’ll leave with a finished pet portrait or very close to finished (depending on pace).

What’s included
  • Canvas/panel to paint on
  • Acrylic paints + brushes + palettes
  • Printed reference photo (at least one)
  • Carbon paper + tracing tools
  • Apron + all setup/cleanup
  • Step-by-step demos + personal help

Good to know
  • No experience needed. Tracing is part of the process.
  • Expect a fun, supportive vibe—everyone’s pet is different, and that’s the point.
