Paint and Learn - Abstract Art Edition
Join Professional Artists Morgan and Shari for an in-person painting session where creativity meets fun! Explore the world of abstract art as you learn to implement interesting techniques, experimenting with style, texture, and color. Express yourself with colors, shapes, forms, and gestural marks to achieve your desired effect. No pressure, just great art! Whether you're a newbie or a seasoned painter, this event is perfect for anyone looking to unwind and get inspired.
Class will begin with introductions and a lesson on composition, principles used in abstract art, and exploration of a variety of tools we have available for the class, followed by freedom to create, with your instructors there to support, guide you, and answer questions. You can start by exploring color, textures, and mark-making on paper and then move to your canvas whenever you are ready. Feel free to explore the gallery and peek into the numerous professional art studios onsite for inspiration!
Students will learn to depart from traditional representation by balancing spontaneity and intention. By the end of the class, students will have their own original artwork and will have gained the skills and confidence to keep creating beyond class. All skill levels are welcome; this class is perfect for curious beginners to seasoned artists looking to shake up their process.
We'll provide latex and acrylic paints, paper, an 11x14 canvas, a set of 10 brushes you'll be able to take home and use in the future, and a bunch of cool and weird objects you can utilize to scrape and drag across the paint for variety! You can bring your friends and your creative thinking! There is free parking for attendees right in front of the studio entrance.
