Learn how to paint plein air in beautiful Painswick village
We’re thrilled to welcome back Roger Dellar as a visiting tutor to Pegasus Art. With many years of painting and teaching experience under his belt, Roger will lead a small group in and around the pretty village of Painswick in the Cotswolds. The Assembly Room in Painswick Church Rooms will be our base for the day. This is an exciting opportunity to learn from a talented and admired British painter. Roger will be painting in oils, but you can use acrylics or watercolour if you prefer – he can teach in any medium.
Here is a rough outline of what to expect:
- Roger will give his approach to painting plein air talking about surfaces, paints, brushes, easels etc.
- You’ll discuss ‘alla prima’ (painting in one go) on the spot, and the method of working from general into detail.
- Roger will give a short demo showing you how to select your subject, choose your palette of colours and layout and explaining his thought process – what to leave in and what to take out.
- Refuel at lunchtime – please bring a packed lunch, flask of tea, water and snacks. Also appropriate clothing and footwear for both sun or rain!
- Spend the afternoon painting a subject of your choice with help where needed until 3.40pm when there will be a critique to wind up the day.
