Pain, Transition & Triumph Presented by Coffee, Hip-Hop & Mental HealthWorld Suicide Prevention DayWednesday, September 10 | 7:00 PMChicago Theatre Works | 1113 W. Belmont Ave
How do we honor the pain — without being consumed by it?How do we survive the transitions life hands us — and still choose joy?How do we gather in a world that tells us to keep it all inside — and say, “No more. Not today.”?
Pain, Transition & Tribute is an immersive offering by Coffee, Hip-Hop & Mental Health. Held on World Suicide Prevention Day, this one-night experience is a journey through the emotional seasons of our lives — from heartbreak to healing, silence to testimony, sorrow to Black joy.
This is not a concert. This is not a play. This is something else. Something living.
Through live music, movement, reflection, and storytelling, we’ll explore what it means to reclaim joy — not in spite of our pain, but because of it. Together, we’ll witness the power of community care, the beauty of emotional honesty, and the sacred act of choosing life — again and again.
You’ll be invited to reflect. To feel. To remember. And maybe, to dance.
All proceeds from this night will go toward our café and community headquarters — supporting supplies, operations, and the third, healing space we’ve built to serve Chicago’s mental health needs.
