Who is the target audience?
Suitable for Seven Deanery trainees ST1-ST6 and clinical fellows, this one-day simulation course is designed for resident doctors in emergency medicine looking to develop and hone their skills in looking after paediatric presentations.
Whether you are about to rotate through a dedicated paediatric emergency department as part of your intermediate training or have spent more time adult emergency medicine and want a refresh, this is the course for you.
What is the course designed for?
Using simulated scenarios, we aim to provide a safe learning environment for you to practice and enhance your skills in a range of acute and emergency situations that you may encounter as middle grade in the emergency department.
Topics have been selected from peer feedback, insights from regional PEM consultants and learning objectives correlated with the updated RCEM curriculum. Scenarios will range from sick neonates, unwell infants, paediatric trauma to challenging communications and human factors.
They are intended provide hands on practice and generate reflective conversation facilitated by content experts from Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
Objectives:
-Confidence in managing acute paediatric presentations
-Teamwork and leadership in an emergency situation
-Effective communication skills in challenging environment
How much is the course?
As a pilot course, a discounted rate of £100 applies.
We are hoping that if this pilot is successful, we can apply for future courses to be approved for deanery funding.
If you come from outside the Seven Deanery, you can apply, however places will be prioritsed to Seven Deanery Trainees.
