In 2025, William Way became the new host of Out of the Box Open Mic, the longest standing queer open mic in the country! Originally started in New Jersey by Stephen Jones and spoken word artist and playwright Pandora Scooter, now hosted by Scooter’s child, The ZanyThing! Out of the Box Open Mic’s mission is to create a safe space for LGBTQIA+ performers. This means that any performing artform is welcome (poetry, music, drag, story telling, etc). Whether you’ve never performed before, are looking to try out your newest idea, or just want to watch, please join us every third Monday of the month from 7-9pm (doors and sign up 6:45pm) at St. Luke’s & the Epiphany.
Sign up for the open mic is first-come-first-serve, so make sure to try to get to the venue on time if you would like to put your name down to perform! There are five to seven minute slots available!
Please note that there will be NO TOLERANCE of performances that use racist, transphobic, homophobic, sexist, ableist, xenophobic, fatphobic, or any other form of bigoted rhetoric. Guests who do not comply with this rule will be asked to leave.
