Our Man in the Field is the musical project of British singer-songwriter Alex Ellis — a band blending Americana, folk, soul and cinematic storytelling into a sound that has drawn comparisons to Wilco, The War on Drugs, Damien Jurado and Van Morrison.
Following the acclaimed albums The Company of Strangers and Gold on the Horizon, the band have spent the last two years building a formidable live reputation across the UK and Europe, touring with artists including The Delines, Chuck Prophet and Jackson Dean, alongside appearances at Glastonbury Festival, Highways at the Royal Albert Hall and BST Hyde Park.
Their forthcoming third album Silverado was recorded at Mark Knopfler’s British Grove Studios and produced by Dire Straits collaborator Guy Fletcher, featuring contributions from Ethan Johns, Sonny Landreth, PP Arnold and Robbie McIntosh.
Praised by broadcaster Bob Harris as “sensational” and championed by BBC 6 Music’s Mark Radcliffe, Our Man in the Field have become known for emotionally charged performances that move effortlessly between intimate folk ballads, driving Americana and expansive, filmic soundscapes.
