Opening to Joy: A Trauma Informed Creative Workshop

Come join us for a hands-on workshop where we explore how creativity can help us heal from trauma and open ourselves up to joy!
About this Event

Whether you've been struggling to connect with a sense of joy or feeling overwhelmed, this workshop offers a gentle, deep space to explore, express, and reconnect with joy, creating room for emotional transformation. And it does so playfully!

Joy grounds us, fueling our care for ourselves, loved ones, our work and activism. It reminds us that beauty exists even when it feels like the world is ending. Making space for a fuller range of emotions allows joy to emerge, sometimes quietly, other times expansively.

This experiential, trauma informed workshop welcomes all your emotions. Your humanness is held and valued here—whether it’s your grief, fears, anger, or your laughter, compassion, and magic. We’re not looking to ‘fix’ or change how you feel. Your emotions are given room to express in tiny ways or more expansive ones- whatever feels right for you.

The Heart of Flow Method blends creativity, somatic practices, and energy healing to explore our inner worlds while cultivating safety in our bodies. This process helps us express emotions tangibly, opening space for connection and allowing joy to arise naturally. This approach makes room for all parts of ourselves, inviting us to support and collaborate with even the parts that resist or avoid as forms of self protection, without forcing them to drop their armour.

What to Expect:
  • Practices to anchor stability and safety
  • Tapping into creative flow and emotional exploration
  • Techniques to calm and nourish your nervous system
  • Gentle, transformative support that honours your individual pace
  • Integration into new possibilities for joy.
  • No prior experience is necessary. You’re warmly invited to join just as you are.

What others have said:

“I felt so incredibly safe and listened to when working with Maya. Her intuition and intentionality allowed me to open and ground into states of safety I have rarely experienced with another person present.”

“By supportively guiding participants to rediscover their own intuitive ability for movement and creative expression along the healing path, Maya reminds me again and again how rich I am as a being and how empowering it feels to meet more and more parts of myself.”

About Maya:

I’m a Trauma Informed Coach and Facilitator, passionately devoted to working with communities and individuals on transformative journeys since 2007. The Heart of Flow Method, emerged from the deep layers of my own healing journey from trauma, as well as professional experiences and extensive training and study in trauma recovery, creative facilitation, somatic embodiment, and energy healing. It is also profoundly influenced by my path as a Priestess of the feminine mysteries. I believe that transformation can be both gentle and deep, playful and profound. The Heart of Flow is a holistic approach that weaves together the spiritual and scientific, the artistic and somatic.

My experience includes supporting survivors of sexual assault and gendered violence, individuals affected by trauma from religious persecution, and those grieving the violent loss or suicide of loved ones. I regularly collaborate with non profits and organizations, as well as individuals seeking healing and transformation, helping them connect with themselves, expand their capacity for joy, and creating lives that are authentic to who they are, vibrant and grounded with stability. I specialize in inner child work, attachment issues, self-worth, heartbreak, life transitions and loss.

I’m an immensely playful person who loves wild laughter, creating art and poetry, dancing and geeking out on how beautiful this earth is.
