Open Mic Night Season 2 Episode 25 🎬 We are excited to announce that this week’s feature will be AledaKasey!!!! 🤩 @aledakaseyAledaKasey, a Two-Spirit, neurodiverse Neyihow iskwew (Plains Cree woman) from Sweetgrass First
Nation, Treaty 6 Territory. A multidisciplinary artist, AledaKasey’s 20+ year career spans theatre, film,
writing and production.
At Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company (SNTC), she co-wrote and performed leading and supporting
roles in works like Journey (2003), Ensembula, The Alley, Askiy (The Land), and Love Songs from a War
Drum. As a CAEA stage manager, her credits include Globe Theatre productions (Death and the Maiden,
Elephant Wake, Anne of green Gables – The Musical) and Festival, Antigonish Summer Theatre repertory
season (Dead Guilty, Intimate Exchanges). She also held production roles with SNTC on tours across
western Canada including Where Spirits Walk, Annabel; A Tale of a Girl and her Raven, and V-Day - The
Vagina Monologues, and more.
A powerful voice on stage and page, she also competed as a storm poet at the 2023 and 2024 Canadian
individual Poetry slam in Vancouver, bringing her fierce storytelling and lived experience directly to
audiences. In 2024, AledaKasey completed an intensive playwright residency at Sage Hill Writings
Playwriting Lab; a program fostering development of works in progress.
Her screen work includes producing short films, directing virtual program programming for Saskatoon
Pride, teaching and mentoring with Frames Film program, videography for Vancouver Indigenous
Fashion Week, a production role with Spotted Fawn Productions, and engaging in some on-camera work
for film and television projects.
Through her artistry and facilitation, AledaKasey continues to use storytelling as a tool for healing,
advocacy, and transformation.
