About this Event

Get ready for a morning of music, learning, and community at Dix Park!

Join PineCone , for an engaging Old-Time Fiddle & Banjo Workshop led by acclaimed musicians Erynn Marshall and Carl Jones. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to build on your skills, this welcoming, hands-on workshop is designed for beginner to intermediate players of all ages.

The workshop will be divided into two parts. In the first session, participants will split into instrument groups—fiddles and banjos—to learn a tune or two in a supportive, small-group setting. In the second session, everyone will come back together to play as a group, bringing the music to life in a fun and collaborative jam.

Set at the beautiful House of Many Porches in Dix Park, you’ll enjoy making music outdoors under the shade of the trees, surrounded by one of Raleigh’s most scenic gathering spaces.

Bring your instrument (fiddle and banjo are the focus but guitars, mandolins, and upright bass are welcome in the second session), a chair if you’d like, and get ready to learn, play, and connect!

PineCone, the Piedmont Council of Traditional Music is a 501c3 nonprofit formed to preserve, present, and promote traditional folk music and dance in North Carolina. We bring people of all ages together to play music, build community, and connect to music that’s rooted in this place we call home. PineCone, is a Resident Company at the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh and producer of the festival Raleigh Wide Open."
