About this Event
Join us for the launch of Old Growth, an anthology celebrating Congaree National Park through the work of poets, essayists, painters, and photographers, and more inspired by time spent in and around the park.
Home to the largest intact expanse of old-growth bottomland hardwood forest in the southeastern United States and recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve, Congaree is a place of remarkable ecological and cultural depth. The anthology honors the region's history as a place of refuge for Native and African American communities and explores how this landscape continues to mirror the resilience of the people who have called it home.
Published in 2026, marking the 50th anniversary of Congaree's federal recognition as a National Monument, all proceeds benefit Friends of Congaree Swamp — a nonprofit dedicated to protecting the park's ecosystems, expanding educational opportunities, and supporting Congaree through advocacy and volunteer service.
