Join Keyonna Butler from Black Hippie Art & curator Vanessa Chandler for a fun and enlightening stroll through Old City's art galleries and design firms!
This is a special edition Old City Art Stroll as part of the DesignPhiladelphia Festival. We will be visiting some design firms and gallery spaces in the area to take a behind-the-scenes look at their work, hear about their creative process, and learn about the design industry in Philadelphia and beyond. This is a great opportunity to network with other design lovers, explore the city, and get inspired!
We'll meet at Cafe Ole at 1:00 pm to grab drinks and refreshments before we begin our stroll. Our first stop will be the Museum for Art in Wood for a tour of their museum and to hear about the latest exhibitions that will be on view. Next, we’ll head to Claudia Mills Rugs for a tour of their studio space and to speak with designer and owner, Claudia Mills. In our third location, we’ll visit a design studio that focuses on furniture and home decor. We'll end at Cherry Street Pier to tour the exhibitions and installations for DesignPhiladelphia.

About the Organizers
Black Hippie Art is a digital art platform that empowers BIPOC creatives and entrepreneurs with resources to work, explore, and become financially successful in the creative industry. We aim to establish a secure space where artists of color can flourish and progress in their art careers, both in Philadelphia and beyond.
Vanessa Chandler is a Philadelphia-based curator, event planner, arts project manager, and MC. She finds her passion in connecting artists to opportunities, curating art exhibitions, and MCing live events. Born in Norristown PA, Vanessa has lived in Philadelphia for nearly a decade since attending Temple University. She currently lives in the Germantown neighborhood, where she produces Germantown Art & Sound, a creative kickback & community art show showcasing local artists and bringing together hundreds of Germantown residents each season.
DesignPhiladelphia
DesignPhiladelphia, a signature event of the Center for DesignPhiladelphia, is the oldest design event of its kind in the country and annually showcases the work of practicing architects, designers, and creative professionals. Experience design in unexpected ways through more than 60 exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations, tours, talks, and events held in venues across the city. Learn about wide-ranging topics, including architecture, urban planning, landscape, graphics, multimedia, product, furniture design, fashion, and the like. This year’s Festival kicks off on October 1st and events run from October 1-13.
