A Five-Part Class Series in the Seattle Underground

Step beneath the streets of Seattle and into a glowing, hidden studio for a five-week deep dive into the rich, timeless medium of oil painting. Whether you're picking up a brush for the first time or rediscovering a long-lost love for paint, this is your invitation.
What You’ll Learn: By the end of the series, you'll walk away with the confidence and skill to oil paint independently—from raw canvas to final varnish.
Key Skills Covered:
- How to prepare and treat your own canvas (including gesso application)
- Safe handling and cleanup of oil-based materials
- Underpainting and grisaille technique
- Color mixing, glazing, and layering for depth
- Dry-brush, scumbling, and impasto texture effects
- Finishing techniques: varnishing, framing advice, and display prep

- All painting materials and tools (brushes, oils, canvas, mediums, aprons, etc.)
- Five guided sessions led by a working oil painter and teaching artist
