About this Event
Step off the algorithm and into one of Manhattan's best-kept secrets.
This NYCxDesign Festival, Library180 opens its doors for an exclusive tour of its extraordinary 2,500-piece archive of fashion magazines, art books, and rare ephemera, all housed in a stunning 26th-floor corner suite with sweeping views of the East River.
Founded by two former fashion magazine insiders, Nikki Igol and Steven Chaiken, this nonprofit library is a love letter to the golden age of print and a goldmine for graphic designers hungry for reference material that no algorithm can surface. Browse typography, layout, and art direction spanning decades, and get up close with tactile print objects like a multi-sensory edition of Visionaire composed of 21 glass vials of scent, a xeroxed copy of underground fashion zine Blow, or a doe-eyed 1964 Vogue cover that predates everything you think you know about editorial design. Nothing is behind glass, nothing is for sale, and everything is yours to discover.
Come lose yourself in the pages and train your eye on the real thing.
