Nutrition myths

This is part 2 of our nutrition series of events, the first of which was ‘Why do We Eat’.During this latest event we will explore the myths that circulate around food and nutrition that are often repeated as the absolute truth.

However, these myths, although happily adopted by ‘influencers’ are usually not backed by any reasonable research, clinical experience or evidence. As with all of the events in our nutrition series you will be presented with information, but, you are also encouraged to share your thoughts, reflections and experiences.

This is important as all our lived experiences are relevant and help to provide insight into why we do the things we do. As always, we can learn much from one another. As well as exploring common myths, we will also look at popular diets, what they offer and how effective they may be.

The aim of this series is to examine what you do, why you do it and help you down the line to make healthy decisions about the food you eat. Food (nutrients) is fundamental for our physical/mental/emotional wellbeing, our aim is to help strengthen the understanding about the connection between what we eat and our state of wellness/illness.

Part 1: Why Do We Eat?

Part 2: Nutrition myths.

Part 3: What should we be eating?

Food is central to our health and wellbeing - but there’s a lot of confusion and misinformation about what’s “healthy” and what isn’t. This interactive nutrition workshop will focus on debunking common nutrition myths, helping us separate fact from fiction.
