About this Event

Nunhead cemetery is one of the seven magnificent Victorian cemeteries in London consisting of a large number of headstones, mausolea and other architectural monuments situated in the various cultivated and wooded areas of the cemetery offering an inspirational place for students to draw and paint.

This workshop is designed for those who want to learn more about the basic elements of drawing ie proportion, perspective, measurement and tone as well as more experience students who might be interested in capturing the mood and atmosphere that the cemetery may evoke.

All levels of experience are welcome.


ABOUT YOUR TUTOR

Jason Line works directly from observation and from a variety of subject matter, although the still life and the interior has increasingly become his main area of interest. He has exhibited extensively over the years in many commercial galleries in the UK and abroad. Recent solo exhibitions include ‘Still Lifes from the Studio’ at MARCH Fine Art in San Francisco, USA in 2021 and last year: ‘Setting the Scene‘ at 155A Gallery in London. Open exhibitions including the BP Portrait Award, National Portrait Gallery, The Discerning Eye, The Lynn Painter Stainers Award, The Royal Society of Portrait Painters and The London Group Open. He has been a member of the New English Art Club since 2021.


WHAT TO BRING

Pencils of different grades, graphite sticks, charcoal, ink, rubbers (plastic and kneadable), cotton rag, paper, rulers/straight edge, drawing board, sketchbooks, a folding chair or stool, easel (optional) as well as painting materials if they wish to paint.


COST

£80 (including booking fee*) for the day

There is a 10% discount for Friends of the New English and full-time students with an appropriate student number booking online. If you are a student you will be asked to provide your Student ID at the workshop. If you are eligible for a discount please contact us stating which discount you are eligible for and you will be emailed a special code to use when booking your tickets.

* The booking fee is charged by Eventbrite for processing the sale of tickets for events
