About this Event

Welcome to the NSCP TRID Youth Safety Open Conversation Focus Group

As part of the NSCP TRID Multi-agency Youth Safety Review, we are inviting colleagues from across the partnership to take part in a focus groups exploring how racism, inequality and disproportionality affect our safeguarding work and importantly, how these issues impact you in your role.
These conversations are about understanding the real workforce experience: what you see, what you navigate, what supports you, and what makes things harder than they need to be. We want to hear about the pressures, the strengths, the culture you work within, and the changes you believe would genuinely make a difference.
Your voice is important. Workforce experience is often one of the clearest indicators of how well a system is working for children and families. By sharing your perspective, you will help shape recommendations that are grounded in reality and focused on improving youth safety across Newham.
These sessions will be co-facilitated by Paul Leslie (Chief Executive, Rights and Equalities in Newham) and Elena Nicolaou (CYPS Safeguarding Children Workforce Development Lead ), who between themselves bring lived experience, community understanding and workforce development expertise, aiming to create a safe, reflective and constructive space for discussion.

Please note: information shared will help inform the final report, but no comments or examples will be attributed to individual participants. Contributions will be anonymised to ensure confidentiality.
