About this Event
The Commonwealth Games enable amazing athletes to realise their dreams BUT historically major sporting events cause significant environmental impacts on our world. Construction, travel and energy are massive contributors to any sport's carbon footprint. Our climate emergency is real and threatens children’s present and future. Co-created by young people and artists is a dance gathering and wild performance addressing this climate anxiety.
Presented by a Greek Chorus of mischievous children, Nostradamus Kids Club uses a shared choreography and popular music to speak truth to the powers that be. Through the structures of ancient Greek Theatre via the freedom found in dance, rave and festival culture children will become a symphony of prophets exalting predictions for the future and imploring their concerns around climate change. In line with Glasgow’s great history of protests and parties Nostradamus Kids Club will be both sweaty shindig and a moment to expose children’s struggle to exercise political agency.
Presented by 21Common, a collective based in Glasgow who create spectacular dance experiences which challenge the traditional ideas of who can be an artist by amplifying those most under-represented in that role.
