Join us for an unforgettable musical journey with the Antoni O’Breskey - Nomadic Piano Project Quartet, featuring the incredible talents of Kevin Murphy from Slow Moving Clouds, Tony Byrne from Danú, and Barry Carroll.Antoni O’Breskey, a visionary composer, pianist, trumpet player, writer, and music educator, was born in Italy and graduated from the Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini of Florence. In the early '80s, he revolutionized Irish and Flamenco music by blending it with blues and jazz, creating a unique and original piano style. Oliver Sweeney from HOT PRESS describes him as “a genius whose music is without frontiers, making him one of the most innovative artists in today’s varied musical genres.”
Fiona Ritchie from NPR’s Curious Listener’s Guide to Celtic Music highlights his pioneering spirit, noting that O’Breskey was the first to fuse Flamenco, Basque, Arabic, Latin, and Irish elements with virtuoso jazz-styled piano, resulting in remarkably original compositions. In 1989, O’Breskey recorded “Al Kamar,” the first fusion of Irish traditional music, jazz, flamenco, and Maghreb sounds, featuring special guests like Antonio Carmona of Ketama and Jamal Ouassini, director of the Tangier Orchestra.
Don’t miss this extraordinary event where Antoni O’Breskey will be joined by Kevin Murphy on cello and voice, Tony Byrne on guitar, and Barry Carroll on hammer dulcimer. It’s a night of musical innovation and cultural fusion you won’t want to miss!
