Sangskriver, musiker, sangerinde og skuespillerinde – Nive Nielsen er en Inuk-kvinde med mange talenter, og vi er glade for, at hun lægger vejen forbi Union under Vinterjazz-festivalen sammen med sit band The Deer Children.
Nive har udviklet sin egen genre af grønlandsk indie Americana-folk. Instrumenteringen ved livekoncerterne rig og består af ukulele-guitar, sav, trommer, tangenter, bas, akustisk guitar, horn, eventuelt cello, melodica og glockenspiel.
Nive Nielsen udgav sit debutalbum 'Nive Sings!' i 2012. Albummet er produceret af John Parish, der er kendt for sine mange samarbejder med PJ Harvey. I 2016 udkom Nives andet album 'Feet first'. Et album, der er indspillet i Grønland, Belgien, England og fem forskellige stater i USA. Hun arbejder nu på sin tredje LP og har flere tv-serier på vej.
Vinterjazz i Union:
Den landsdækkende musikfestival Vinterjazz sætter musikken tilbage på landkortet den 30. januar - 23. februar 2025. I Union inviterer vi til en række spændende jazzkoncerter, som på hver deres måde afspejler Unions eklektiske kulturprogram. Du skal med andre ord ikke forvente dig traditionel jazz, men derimod en rejse ned til jazzens globale rødder.

Enjoy an evening of extraordinary Inuit indie and magical arctic folk.
Her first concert was for Queen Margrethe of Denmark. She has played Roskilde Festival. And she has played opposite Colin Farrell in the movie The New World. Songwriter, musician, singer and actress – Nive Nielsen is an Inuk woman of many talents, and we are happy that she will visit Union during the Vinterjazz festival along with her band The Deer Children.
Nive has developed her own genre of Greenlandic indie Americana folk. The instrumentation at the live concerts is ukulele-guitar, saw, drums, keys, bass, acoustic guitar, horns, possibly cello, melodica and glockenspiel.
Nive Nielsen released her debut album 'Nive Sings!' in 2012. The album was produced by John Parish, who is known for his many collaborations with PJ Harvey. In 2016, Nive's second album 'Feet first' was released. An album that was recorded in Greenland, Belgium, England and five different states in the USA.
She’s now working on her 3rd LP and has several TV series coming out soon.
Vinterjazz in Union:
The concert program in Union is part of the nationwide music festival Vinterjazz on 30 January - 23 February 2025. In Union, we invite you to a range of exciting jazz concerts, each of which in their own way reflects Union's eclectic cultural programme. In other words, you should not expect traditional jazz, but rather a journey to the global roots of jazz.
The doors open at 19:00. The concert starts at 20:00.
