About this Event
The work of RIBA Royal Gold Medal 2026 winner, Niall McLaughlin has been described as ‘deeply informed by a nuanced understanding of time, social context, and environmental impact’. Grounded in the belief that success is collective, Niall’s practice has created a portfolio of outstanding projects ranging from the cloud-like Bandstand at Bexhill (2001); the calm orthogonal pavilions of the Alzheimer’s Respite Centre in Dublin (2011) to the very simple brick volumes of The New Library Magdalene College (2021)’ RIBA. In this session, Niall speaks with RIBAJ’s Eleanor Young, on his early career, roots in education, materiality, travel and a layered, wider inspiration that underpins his work and that of the prominent studio.
