Parasitic worms (also known as trematodes) have long-established relationships with us, shaping our history and society. I'll be discussing the diversity of trematodes, the way they have and continue to shape societies, and their weird and wonky ways of living in us. I'll focus on what these parasitic worms are and how dynamic (and cool!) their lifecycles can be, and I'll also touch a bit on how we can reduce them to improve global human health.

Bacteria have been responsible for countless deaths throughout human history, and the discovery of antibiotics is undeniably one of the greatest medical achievements in human history. However, antibiotic resistance has been expanding among bacteria at alarming rates, so much so that the next pandemic may be a disease we know very well but can no longer treat. Come learn about antibiotics, how they work, the timeline and scale of antibiotic resistance, and new antimicrobial technologies that make it so we (maybe) won't all die of MRSA.
