About this Event
This is an in-person event only.
Amanda will be leading a relaxed walk on the streets around Notting Hill Gate in search of the fascinating wild plants and other wildlife which find a home on our pavements.
In 'Wild Pavements' Amanda shares her delight in the overlooked and under appreciated wildlife in our UK cities, finds the people who care for it and takes groups out to enjoy it. From wild bees living on a canal bank and black redstarts nesting in London’s Oxford Street, to rare plants in pavement cracks and new fish-life in trolley-filled urban rivers, her discoveries are there for anyone to enjoy. And noticing the wild world around you may just change the way you think about our cities for good.
is a London-based urban naturalist and nature writer. She works as a consultant botanist, leads urban plant and bird walks and teaches botany and nature writing. Amanda writes a monthly column for Bird Watching Magazine which often features urban birds and her feature writing can be seen on her blog The Urban Naturalist.
