Film has long depicted both the frightening threats and striking advancements powerful technology and, in particular, Artificial Intelligence (AI) might bring to life. As AI becomes more prevalent beyond popular culture, so too do questions about its benefits and risks. Proponents of AI argue that it is paving the way for important breakthroughs in healthcare, education, finance, manufacturing and a myriad of other fields. They assert that it has the capacity to increase efficiency and improve decision making, often at scale. For others, AI raises concerns around ethics, privacy, security, and equality. Will AI cause mass job displacement? Who owns our data in a world with widespread AI? What role does or should our government play?

How can we shape the future of AI responsibly? Bring your ideas and questions to this Braver Angels debate about the benefits and harms of artificial intelligence. We want to know what you think. Join the Braver Angels Debate Team Thursday February 6th @ 8 pm ET for a debate, led by Madam Chair Cynthia O’Brien, on the topic – Resolved: Artificial intelligence offers more benefit than harm to humanity.
