Myths & Legends: Debunking American Indian Stereotypes for Educators will help teachers look critically at stereotypes, historical myths, and inaccuracies that are pervasive in our educational and societal structures which often are harmful to American Indian students and their success outcomes.
This workshop will provide examples and guidelines of how to assess the accuracy of learning materials and avoid stereotypes and pitfalls that alienate American Indian students. This workshop is complementary to our other offerings which will continue the work of building inclusive classroom spaces to welcome and support American Indian students in the educational system. Join us to learn more about creating inclusive and welcoming classroom spaces and teaching curriculum that is culturally aware of the historical impact of imagery, social media, films, and governmental policies.

- Identify problematic stereotypes, lesson plans, and materials for classroom spaces.
- Discover reliable and historically informed sources.
- Critical understanding of historical inaccuracies pervasive in American culture.
