Nothing written down. Each one worked out at the piano in the moment
About this Event
My Tempered Clavier -Improvisations in All Keys
An evening of piano improvisation built around a simple but demanding idea:
to move through all major and minor keys, in real time, at the instrument. Inspired by the 24 preludes and fugues of Bach, Chopin and Shostakovich.
This is not a performance of a fixed work, but a live process.
Each prelude is created in the moment, shaped by the character of the key, the location and the audience.
The project draws on the long tradition of the keyboard, but approaches it as a improvising practice rather than a written one.
The second half of the evening will include solo piano jazz performances of works by Miles Davis and Bill Evans.
Part I
A complete cycle of improvised preludes across all keys.
Part II
A selection of jazz standards including works by Bill Evans and Miles Davis
