About this Event
The first of two days of programmes featuring long duration works performed by Apartment House.
This first event features pleasure drenching..., a large work by Canadian composer Eldritch Priest for a large mixed ensemble.
The composer describes pleasure drenching… as "a work that aims to sound like a music that never was but might have been. It’s a kind of lounge music, or quasi-jazz that you think you’ve heard before but doesn’t sound quite 'right.' It’s a kind of mesmerism and deferral. But perhaps most of all, pleasure drenching… is a pleasing clamour and a charming commotion that delights in the joy of losing itself in itself."
Come and hear this remarkable work performed in the UK for the first time. The composer will be joining us to perform on lap steel guitar.
