About this Event
MIM 125: 16th February - PRS, Royalties & Black Music with Kenneth Barber
What to Expect
Music Industry Mondays (MIM) is a free weekly event series held every Monday, bringing artists, creatives, and industry professionals together with guest speakers from across the music industry. Each session explores a different area of the business - from artists and managers to labels, festivals, publishing, marketing, and beyond. Expect honest insight, practical advice, and real-world experience, followed by an open mic and open Q&A.
Meet This Week’s Guest
Kenneth Barber is the Relationship Manager for Black Music at PRS for Music, representing and supporting songwriters, producers, and publishers across the Black music ecosystem. In his role, Kenny works closely with high-profile creators and their teams, helping them better understand PRS and MCPS, maximise their royalties, and build sustainable careers in music.
With a background as a singer-songwriter previously signed to Sony ATV Music Publishing, Kenny brings first-hand creative experience alongside deep industry knowledge. He is also Managing Director of Sonitus Music Group, where he oversees rising R&B artist Bellah and manages touring talent including Nippa, Ragz Originale, Marie Dahlstrom, and Tay Iwar.
Regularly attending industry events and panels, Kenny is passionate about improving access to information around music rights, income streams, and long-term career development, particularly for Black music creators navigating the industry today.
