Music Generation Fingal bring you a 4-day intensive DJ programme, providing an exciting and engaging introduction to DJ'ing, genre appreciation, and beat making. Designed for immersive and hands-on learning, participants will develop core DJ skills, explore music culture and genre and create original beats while working toward a final performance or showcase.Suitable for older children ages 13-18yrs.
All equipment and instruments will be provided.
Dates: Tuesday April 7th - Friday April 10th (4 days)
Times: 10am-2pm each day
Daily Breakdown:
Day 1 – DJ History & Fundamentals and Music Foundations
Introduction to DJ culture and the role of the DJ
Equipment setup and DJ software basics
Understanding BPM, rhythm, bars, and phrasing
Basic beatmatching and cueing
First mixes using sync and basic transitions
Day 2 – Mixing Skills & Genre Appreciation
Deeper mixing techniques (EQ mixing, FX)
Genre exploration: House, Techno, Trance, EDM etc
Adapting mixing styles to genre
Reading room energy and mood in music
Practice: genre-based mixing challenge
Day 3 – Beat Making & Creative Expression
Introduction to beat making and production software
Rhythm patterns, drum kits, and tempo
Creating a basic beat (Drums, bass, Melody)
Exploring how Djs/Producers use edits and remixes
Practice: DJing with self-made or provided beats
Day 4 – Performance & Showcase
Building a short DJ set (10/15 mins)
Performance skills: Confidence, Preparation, Check-listing and managing mistakes
Rehearsal and final preparation
Short performance
Reflection and discussion on next steps in DJ'ing and music creation
