Mrs. Wilberforce

is the Boston-based duo of (fiddle, viola, vocals) and (guitar, bouzouki, tenor banjo, vocals). Kyra and Sean play music from Ireland, Scotland and Cape Breton – but also further afield, like Shetland, Brittany, Galicia, and their home of New England. Although their sound is rooted in tradition, they readily, and happily, draw upon influences from the classical and contemporary folk/folk-rock domains, bringing out the distinctive qualities of each tune or song for the enjoyment of their audiences.

Since its founding in 2017, Mrs. Wilberforce -- named for a character in the 1955 British film "The Ladykillers" -- has appeared at Club Passim and The Rockwell as part of the Boston Celtic Music Festival, the Passim Summer Series at the Harvard University Science Plaza, City Winery Boston, the Carriage House at Gore Place (Waltham, Mass.), the Cherry Street Music series (Newton, Mass.), and the New Bedford Roots and Branches Festival.For more about Mrs. Wilberforce, including music samples, see .
