About this Event
Born and raised in rural North Norway, Maine, Terry Swett was the youngest of nine children. Terry immersed himself in creativity from an early age, always making or building something. Limited resources became the perfect recipe for great imagination. A free thinker with a taste for rhythm and rhyme, he started writing poetry around the age of twelve.
At age 13, he started playing drums with the school band, continuing throughout high school. “I loved the rhythm of it,” he said, “but I was growing far more passionate about rock and roll. I formed my first band, "Blue Flame", in my first year of junior high school, performing throughout my high school years. I eventually found an attraction to the sweet harmonies of some of the more folk sounds of Crosby, Stills and Nash, Seals and Crofts, Loggins and Messina as well as southern bands like Marshall Tucker, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Outlaws. All the while, however, I loved a compelling story and how it was delivered, especially if it involved nice harmonies."
While hitchhiking all over the USA, he took up sign painting which ultimately became a lifelong trade in addition to his music.
In 2012, Terry Swett founded the band, Milltown Roadshow, with group of talented players from bluegrass roots. Performing many of Terry's original songs along with Americana classics, the name is a reflection of the vibrant mill towns that were so prevalent until the many factories moved overseas, leaving behind thousands of misplaced mill workers.
