About this Event
Movement Matters: An Evening Celebrating Community, Research & Resilience
Come spend an evening with the Health and Wellness Equity Research Group at Carleton University, where we’ll share about our community‑based work centred around equity, inclusion, and what it means to feel at home in movement spaces.
Through a short film, conversation, and hands‑on displays, we’ll explore:
- Trauma‑ and violence‑informed physical activity
- Belonging and representation in running culture
- Stories from athletes and community members that gently (and sometimes boldly) stretch how we think about access to movement
The night includes a documentary preview, a panel conversation, and plenty of time to wander, talk, and connect.
We’ll also be marking the wrap‑up of our Public Health Agency of Canada–funded project on trauma‑informed physical activity, shaped over the past few years with community partners across Canada.
This is a donation‑based event. Proceeds will support Trauma‑ and Violence‑Informed Physical Activity programming at Interval House Ottawa.
If you’re curious about more equitable, community‑driven approaches to physical activity, we'd love to see you there
