Organised by Arts House Group, Monstrous Fun 2026 returns with a playful and imaginative line-up of experiences for children and families. Centred on storytelling, books and creativity, the festival invites young readers to step into worlds shaped by imagination – where monsters spark curiosity rather than fear and stories become shared adventures.
Families can look forward to lively literary encounters including interactive performances, hands-on workshops and story-driven activities that encourage creativity, play and exploration. These experiences are designed to spark a love for reading and storytelling, while creating meaningful moments of connection for children and caregivers alike.
Beyond performances and workshops, Monstrous Fun 2026 also features free drop-in activities, inviting children to draw, make, explore and invent at their own pace. From visual art and print-based activities to playful quests through festival spaces and a Monster Parade, these experiences are designed as accessible entry points into the joy of stories and books.

Art hop easily across the city with the free Civic District Arts Bus, operating every Friday to Sunday from 12pm - 10pm on 15 to 30 May and 12pm - 7pm on 31 May to 7 June.
