Tokyo-based drum and bass duo MOJA return with their most visceral release yet
MOJA embrace natural sonic energy over lyrical storytelling with their newest ‘I’m Hungry’. Japanese duo strips rock down to its purest form – distortion, rhythm, and chemistry – creating a wall of sound that is both abrasive and hypnotic. “Our music has no romantic lyrics. Nor does it have gentle words that can soothe someone. It’s about feeling the beat, the swell of the riffs, the collision of sounds, and the moments when the emotions of Moja and the audience intersect and spark a chemical reaction”, explains the band.
This is raw sonic assault, built on the primal dialogue of bass and drums. No gimmicks, no filler – just energy that erupts with unrelenting intensity. According to Masumi (drums): “A world that makes your blood boil and your body move – that is everything in Moja’s music”.
I’m Hungry !! captures the essence of the band’s live performance – uncompromising, untamed, and unfiltered. “What captivates us most in our performances is the kind of raw, blood-stirring energy that makes your whole body come alive – and we believe that’s one of our defining traits. Our songwriting and album production are simply the pure expression of that fire”, says Haru (bass and vocals).
