Our government now threatens to "straighten out" Colombia, Cuba, and Mexico, and to take Greenland from Denmark, our NATO ally, "with force if needed". Rather than withdraw its militarized secret police from Minneapolis after ICE killed a local mother and terrorized a school full of children, DHS seeks to send more force to silence any calls for accountability. Fear, violence, and oppression are the point.
But we know the moment we obey in advance and censor our own dissent, fascism has won. On this MLK Day, 2026, we seek to live up to the words of the great advocate for peace, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter... It is not enough to say we must not wage war. It is necessary to love peace and sacrifice for it."
