About this Event
“It began with a secret 11-hour river journey, reminiscent of Apocalypse Now. We were escorted by heavily armed resistance fighters. There would have been a 20-year Pr*son sentence had we been caught. We finally arrived at a base in the Myanmar jungle in the middle of the night, only two kilometres from the active front line, where a battle was about to commence between the resistance fighters and the army. In the early hours of the morning, we set up our operating tables and equipment — literally tables you might find in your kitchen — under the camouflage of high trees.”
Come and watch a 15 minute film of the mission, followed by a panel discussion, featuring Professor Nott, fellow surgeons Dr Ian Nesbitt, Dr Tom Avery, journalist Carsten Stormer who filmed the footage, and Dr Thinn Hlaing, Country Director of Global Health Partnership.
The panel will be chaired by Elly Nott, Co-Founder of the David Nott Foundation.
Q&A, drinks and nibbles before and after the discussion.
