Description: Yoga is more than just movement—it’s a philosophy that guides how we live, both on and off the mat. This two-part series introduces the foundational principles of yoga through gentle, beginner-friendly practice, helping you integrate mindfulness and intentionality into your daily life.
We will spend 45 minutes practicing gentle, beginner friendly yoga and end the session with the principles of the Yamas (Part 1) and Niyamas (Part 2).
There will be an informational handout for each participant to take notes on.
Part 1: Yoga and the Yamas – The Yamas are ethical principles that shape how we interact with the world around us. In this session, we’ll explore these five guidelines—Ahimsa (non-harming), Satya (truthfulness), Asteya (non-stealing), Brahmacharya (moderation), and Aparigraha (non-attachment). Through discussion and gentle movement, we’ll reflect on how these principles can bring more balance and awareness into our relationships, habits, and overall well-being.
Part 2: Yoga and the Niyamas – The Niyamas focus on self-discipline and personal growth, guiding us toward a more fulfilling inner life. This session will introduce the five Niyamas—Shaucha (purity), Santosha (contentment), Tapas (self-discipline), Svadhyaya (self-study), and Ishvarapranidhana (surrender). Through breathwork, mindful movement, and reflection, we’ll explore how these principles can support resilience, self-awareness, and inner peace.
You'll get the best of both worlds in each workshop, movement and philosophy, making these ancient teachings accessible and relevant for modern life in a supportive and welcoming environment.
While we encourage participation in both parts to fully embrace the materials, people can choose to attend only one part if needed.
