MIKAILHUITL 2024We are excited to present our 6th year decolonizing Dia de los Muertos. The Mexica originally honored the dead for two 20 day months around the months of July-September. The first month for the young and the second for the elderly and the ancestors.
This is a 2-day event. Cuauhtemok Mosqueda will be bringing his expertise to this year's event.
August 17th from 5pm-10pm at 3632 Morrison Rd Denver Co 80219 we will host an art show, vendors, a free concert that includes a night of traditional Mexica dance performed by Kalpulli Mikakuika and Kalpulli Izkalli from California. Free dinner for the community will be provided.
August 18th from 3pm-8pm Community Altar and Mexica Dance Offering at Westwood Community Center 1000 S Lowell Blvd Denver Co 80219. This part of the event is invite only for danzantes to participate in the dance circle due to capacity constraints. But the community is free to watch. Vendors will be set up at the park.
